Isn’t Working in Hospice Care Depressing?

Ever wonder if working in hospice care is depressing? It’s been over eight years since I started working in the hospice care field, which is why I am so excited to share with you today’s post.  For the past eight years, I have gotten into countless conversations where I’m asked what I do.  When people hear that I work in the hospice field, I typically get two responses. Being that I’m in my 30’s, a number of peers don’t have the faintest idea of what hospice care is (it’s okay, I barely knew when I started there!) The other share  look at me with pity and usually ask ,”Isn’t it depressing?”

Today at work, my amazing team is launching Montgomery Hospice’s first podcast called What’s Important to You, which has been a long time coming. If you’ve ever questioned why someone would ever choose to work in a field that has to do with death, you’ll want to listen to this short episode.  And surprise, if you recognize the voice of the host, that’s because it’s mine.  My radio voice, that is… AHEM.
